Brainsport Times Mar. 2, 2016

Looking past today's not-so great weather, we have a beautiful forecast for the upcoming days, and hopefully much more to come!

The warmer weather is getting everyone excited about our new spring arrivals. We're starting to get questions about what's coming in to the store. So this week, we thought it would be fun, and informative, to speak with Brainsport Manager, Lisette Schermann.
Q&A with Lisette Schermann
Tara: Excitement is building as people anticipate getting outdoors more as spring arrives. Can you share some of what customers can expect to see coming into the store, and when new arrivals will land?

Lisette:
We don’t have any control over when spring arrives outside, but inside Brainsport, spring will be arriving in mid March. That’s for running clothes and accessories like Buffs, for shoes, many of the best spring styles are already here.

Tara: Running shoes are constantly evolving. You are in a lot of meetings with the companies in regards to the latest in technology and innovation. What can you tell us about the shoes coming out this season?

Lisette:
There are some very exciting things happening in the shoe world. New materials are changing what shoes can do. We’ve got shoes with stretch, that wrap around your foot like a sock like Triumph and Hurricane from Saucony. From Asics there’s a new weightless waterproofing treatment in the new FujiEndurance trail shoe. Old favourites, like the 1080 from New Balance, are being revolutionized with new materials, in this case Fresh Foam. On the whole, the 2016 crop of shoes are going to work harder, perform better than ever before.

Tara: And how about apparel, what does this year's trend seem to be?
Lisette: In apparel, look out for a more diverse colour palette than ever before. Look for glowing orange, lots of rich navy and versatile berry tones. There’s also a lot of innovation going in to things that you might not see, but can certainly feel. Sugoi is putting a new premium liner in their shorts that’s a game-changer for sure.

Tara: Is there any product that stands out to you as particularly exciting?

Lisette: My favourite new shoe is a blast from the past - the Catalyst from Mizuno. Anybody that’s ever worn the Elixir remembers what a fun, responsive and versatile shoe that was. Mizuno has brought that back in the Catalyst. It makes you want to take them for a run.

The Mizuno Catalyst (women's and men's).

Tara: Is there anything else you would like to add in regards to the arrival of spring?

Lisette: Remember that spring comes fast! In these last few weeks of winter, take some time and dig out your summer running kit, try stuff on, keep the stuff you love and donate or discard the stuff that’s worn out or doesn’t fit right. That way you won’t waste any time when the warm days arrive. And, ladies, remember that bras shouldn’t have birthdays!
